Terms of Service
Last updated: April 1, 2026
Welcome
By using OpenStreetProblem (“the Platform”), you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language because legal jargon helps nobody.
What you can do
- Report civic issues (potholes, garbage, flooding, etc.) in your community.
- Upload photos and descriptions of street-level problems.
- Upvote, comment on, and verify reports from others.
- Join city groups and subscribe to areas you care about.
- Use the platform for free — no hidden charges for citizens.
What we expect
- Be honest — Report real issues. Don't fabricate or exaggerate.
- Be respectful — No harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks in comments.
- Be responsible — Don't upload photos containing people's faces, license plates, or private property interiors without consent.
- Don't game it — No spam, duplicate flooding, or fake upvotes.
Your content
You own the photos and text you submit. By posting, you grant OpenStreetProblem a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, store, and process your content for the purpose of operating the platform. This includes AI analysis for classification and duplicate detection.
You can delete your reports at any time. Deleted content is removed from public view and permanently purged within 30 days.
AI features
Our AI automatically classifies issue types, estimates severity, and detects potential duplicates. These are suggestions — you always have the final say before submitting. AI analysis is performed server-side and your data is not shared with third-party AI providers.
Accounts
You need an account to report issues. We use email-based OTP authentication — no passwords. Keep your email secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old. We can suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Content moderation
All content is subject to our moderation policies. We reserve the right to:
- Review, flag, or remove content that violates these terms.
- Remove content that is offensive, misleading, spam, or unrelated to civic issues.
- Use automated tools (including AI) to screen uploads.
- Restrict or ban users who repeatedly violate our guidelines.
Availability
We aim for high uptime but can't guarantee the platform will always be available. We may perform maintenance, update features, or temporarily limit access. We'll try to give notice when possible.
Liability
OpenStreetProblem is a reporting tool, not an emergency service. For urgent safety issues, contact your local emergency services. We're not responsible for the resolution of reported issues — that's up to local authorities and contractors. The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms as the platform grows. We'll notify you of significant changes. Continuing to use the platform after changes means you accept the updated terms.
